Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 28, 2026

TranslateBoard is built so that the developer never sees your data.

What the app does with your data

  • Voice recordings: When you dictate, audio is recorded on your device and sent directly to OpenAI's transcription API (api.openai.com) using your own OpenAI API key. The recording is deleted from your device after transcription. The developer operates no servers and never receives your audio.
  • Text: The transcribed text is sent directly to OpenAI's API for translation, again under your own API key. The latest result is stored locally on your device in a container shared between the app and its keyboard, so the keyboard can insert it. It is overwritten by the next dictation.
  • Your OpenAI API key: Stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. It is only ever transmitted to api.openai.com to authenticate your requests.

What the app does not do

  • No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no in-app purchases.
  • No developer-operated servers; no data is ever sent to the developer.
  • The keyboard does not log or transmit your keystrokes. Full Access is used solely to read the finished translation from the shared on-device container; the keyboard itself never accesses the network.

Third party: OpenAI

Audio and text you dictate are processed by OpenAI under your own account and their API terms. See OpenAI's API data usage policies for how API data is handled.
